When I am scrolling through photos and I find a striking image, I always want to know about the person behind the photograph. The beautiful bride featured in these photographs is Laura, and she contacted me to photograph her engagement to Mitch back in 2016. They wanted to include Mitch’s son in the engagement photos as well, and of course I agreed. I knew it would be extra special to highlight their blossoming love as a family. We photographed their engagement session at The Bernardo Winery and right away we clicked. They are the type of people that are up for anything and totally fun. I had a blast photographing their family portraits/engagement session and I could not wait to photograph their wedding.
They originally planned to get married on the HMS Surprise in the Port of San Diego, but life happened (I can relate!) and they relocated from San Diego and postponed their wedding. Instead, they opted for the same date, only one year later, and decided to have a charming backyard wedding in Ramona. I was fond of this idea because I live in Ramona, CA, an unincorporated city in the County of San Diego.
Laura and Mitch used Timeless Events Planning for their wedding planning, and Sandy Brooks did a fantastic job transforming the home into a beautiful wedding venue. They included elements from their originally planned wedding at the HMS Surprise, such as nautical details on the guest tables and bar area. The wedding site had an arch decorated with tulle and eucalyptus, along with a path of eucalyptus and candles which made the ambiance very romantic. Mitch and Laura also showed their individual style by including two wedding cakes, one of which was a tie-died cake. Their rainbow titanium wedding bands were a beautiful touch, and I loved that the bride wore a blush pink wedding dress with her married name embroidered into the hem. Every little detail was elegant and seamless. Their wedding officiant, Paul Frye of Paul Frye Weddings, was so genuine and caring during the tender moments of the ceremony. Paul has a fantastic smile and a great sense of humor, and he incorporated personalized moments in his officiating. I have to say, their wedding was very emotional and beautiful.
I wish them many years of happiness and love! Thank you to the Hettingers for choosing me to be your photographer, I am honored!
